Welcome to Summer Reading 2016! This year it is all new, interactive and online. There's a reading team for everyone–babies, kids, teens and adults. Signing up is free and easy, click “register" below to get started.

Parents: If you would like to create a Family Account, please register yourself first and then register your children under your account.

It’s simple: Earn points and collect badges for doing all kinds of stuff over the summer, like reading, playing games, going to library events and experiencing things in your community.

Earn 10 points for every picture book you add to your reading log. Earn 10 points for coming to a library event!  Once you hit 600 points, you earn a Summer Reading Medal from your library and can print your Achievement Certificate!

PLEASE NOTE THE KIND OF BOOKS THAT YOU LOG!

Books that have the labels of J, YA, and Adult have many  chapters and are worth 100 points each. Books that are labeled BB, E, and ER are easier and are worth 10 points each.

Put reading first,
with 20 minutes a day spent reading or being read to this summer:

  1. Sign up the whole family for the summer reading program offered by Darlington County Library System.
  2. Visit your local branch again and again this summer. Ask your librarian for suggestions of great books to read yourself or to your young child. Once you register you will also have access to exciting, age appropriate reading lists made available by our librarians.
  3. Set a goal of reading 20 minutes every day. For very young children and struggling readers, that can be spread out through the day. Use the online games and track your reading to unlock cool new game levels, activities and more!
  4. Make reading fun all summer long!
